Mutually Beneficial Placements

The GenMH Fellowship Model

The GenMH Fellowship model is designed to ensure that both the fellow and the host organization are able to benefit from a placement. What we want to know from you:

THE FELLOWSHIP

The Fellow

Rather than your academic background and previous experience, we want to know more about your passion, ambitions and areas of interest in global mental health.

The Host Organization

We want to know all about the work you do, the work you want to do, and what areas of capacity you require. We want to ensure our Fellows are best equipped to meet these needs!

The Fellowship Model Steps

01

We work closely with our host organisations to establish their needs.

02

We launch our applications giving details of our host organisations and their specific needs.

03

Successful applicants are purposefully matched to a host organisation.

04

Fellows begin their online pre-departure training with the GenMH team. Host organisations assign an in-house peer mentor to their Fellow.

05

Fellows and host organisations connect and develop a mutually beneficial placement plan. The GenMH team supports this process and offers feedback throughout.

06

Fellows undertake a week of in-person training with the GenMH team and experts in the field, prior to departing for their placements.

07

Fellows undertake a 6-12 month placement with their host organisation. Both host and Fellow are supported throughout by the GenMH team.

08

Fellows complete their placement and return to their respective country. We connect with them to process their experience.

09

We process the host organisations experience and gain their feedback.

10

Both Fellows and host organisations join the GenMH alumni network, and continue to pioneer a positive future for global mental health!
