Our mission is to shift power in global mental health by positioning young people with lived experience as leaders, equipping them with the tools, platforms, and support to shape research, policy, funding, and practice at scale.
Why Young People?
Global mental health systems are being designed today in ways that will affect young people for decades yet young people remain excluded from decision making. This is both inequitable and ineffective. Meaningful youth leadership ensures that power is shared, systems remain accountable, and solutions are relevant to current and future generations.
Why Lived Experience?
Mental health systems that exclude a meaningful understanding of the lived experience of the communities they aim to serve, reproduce the very inequities they aim to address. Integrating lived experience as essential expertise strengthens research and leads to more responsive, ethical, and sustainable systems.
Why Us?
Generation Mental Health was established by young people, for young people. We centre everything we do around a fundamental respect for diverse perspectives and lived experiences of mental health. We work to ensure this expertise drives how global mental health systems are designed, funded, and implemented.
